SF-Steve Kerr wouldn't rule it out on Sunday, but the Golden State Warriors made it official on Monday: Stephen Curry will not play in Game 2 on Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Curry is still recovering from an MCL sprain in his right knee and is officially listed as "out" on the Warriors latest injury report. Prior to Game 1, Kerr said there was a 'slim' chance Curry could return to action as early as Tuesday.
It just depends on how this week goes, the Warriors coach told reporters on Sunday. It's nice to have that long break between (Games) 2 and 3. We'll probably take Wednesday off as a team, but he'll get his work in and then maybe Thursday, Friday, there's a chance we could get him on the floor in a scrimmage situation. But it's all speculation.
So we don't really know. But that's the hope; that by the middle of next week we can get him back into more basketball-type movements.

Curry sprained his knee one week ago during Game 4 of the Warriors first-round series against the Houston Rockets. At the time, the Warriors announced he would be "re-evaluated" after two weeks. He has since returned to the court to do some light shooting, prompting speculation that the reigning NBA MVP could return to action sooner than originally forecasted. But Kerr said Curry would need to participate in 5-on-5 activities and scrimmages before he would be cleared to play.
