Novak Djokovic wins 700th career match

Novak Djokovic became the 12th player in the Open era to win 700 career ATP World Tour matches with his 6-1, 6-2 victory over Malek Jaziri in the second round of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships on Wednesday.

Every milestone is special and it gives you an extra incentive and motivation to play well, Djokovic told ATPWorldTour.com. Being a part of the history books is a huge honor and is something that is always present, even though you try not to focus all your attention on the record-breaking opportunities. You use it for motivation and to push yourself to give your best.

Djokovic has posted a 100-6 record since recording his 600th career victory on Nov. 2, 2014.

It was a smooth day for the seeded players Wednesday, with No. 2 seed Stan Wawrinka, No. 3 Tomas Berdych, No. 4 Roberto Bautista Agut, No. 6 Feliciano Lopez and No. 8 Philip Kohlschreiber all advancing into the third round with straight-sets victories. Nick Kyrgios also won in straight sets as he continues his strong form coming off his first ATP World Tour title on Sunday.

Also advancing in straight sets Wednesday was Marcos Baghdatis, and the longest match of the day was Lopez's 6-3, 7-6(7) victory over Lukas Rosol in an hour and 32 minutes.
